The TP-L3S separates the control unit from the laser-emitting unit, unlike conventional pipe lasers. This makes it suitable for small-diameter manholes with a 300 × 150 mm opening, which have recently been used in projects such as rural community wastewater systems. Because the control and emitting units are separate, the laser alignment will not shift during operation or when changing the battery. An air bag securely fixes the unit in areas that previously had open space above conventional pipe lasers. Vibrations will not cause the laser alignment to shift. The emitting unit installed inside the pipe is retrieved using a 6 m retrieval chain.
