This is a handheld device used for verifying, testing, and troubleshooting coaxial cables and twisted-pair cables wired in Local Area Networks (LANs). It combines test pulses with digital signal processing to provide fast, accurate test results and high-performance testing capabilities up to 350 MHz. This device has the following features:
●Verifies that basic LAN links and channel calibrations comply with standards such as IEEE, ANSI, TIA, and ISO/IEC.
●When used with the optional fiber test adapter, it verifies that basic LAN fiber links comply with TIA/EIA and ISO/IEC standards.
●Displays test functions and results in an easy-to-use menu.
●Displays the screen and printed reports in English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Japanese.
●Automatically performs all critical tests. Diagnostic routines also identify faults and their causes.
●Performs automatic bidirectional testing.
●The "Talk" function enables bidirectional voice communication between the main unit and remote unit over twisted-pair or fiber using the fiber test adapter.
●Can store test reports containing over 500 text descriptions in nonvolatile memory.
●Transfers stored test results to a host computer or directly to a serial printer.
●Stores common test standards and libraries for copper and fiber cable types. The flash EPROM allows for the addition of test standards and firmware updates.
●Up to four custom test standards can be configured.
●The High Definition Time Domain Crosstalk (HDTDX) analyzer identifies crosstalk on cables.
●Creates graphs for NEXT, ELFEXT, PSNEXT, PSELFEXT, attenuation, ACR, PSACR, and RL. Tests NEXT, ELFEXT, PSNEXT, PSELFEXT, attenuation, ACR, and PSACR up to 350 MHz. Provides remote test results for NEXT, ELFEXT, PSNEXT, ACR, and RL.
●When used with the optional DSP-LIA013 adapter, it monitors network traffic on 10/100BASE-TX Ethernet systems and impulse noise on twisted-pair cables, identifies hub port connections, and determines which standards the hub port connections support.
●Identifies cables wired in LANs using a tone generator and an inductive pickup device such as the Fluke 140A Bug Tone Probe.
●When used with the optional link interface adapter, it can test more LAN cable types.
